　　Bankruptcy is a legal process for people andbusinesses that are in debt.

　　破产是为负债人和负债公司制定的一个法律程序，

　　It is designed to help them get a new start.

　　It is also designed to help their creditors get paid atleast some of what they are owed.

　　并为债权人追回一部分的大款。

　　In America, two kinds of bankruptcy are mostcommon for individuals. These are called chapter seven and chapter thirteen.

　　美国有两种最常见的个人破产方式—被称为第七章和第十三章，

　　They are named after the parts of the United States Code that define them.

　　是以美国法典中定义个人破产的那部分来命名的。

　　Chapter thirteen bankruptcy requires people to have a plan to repay their creditors. They makepayments for three to five years until most of their debt is paid off.

　　第十三章规定，债务人必须制定在三至五年内还清债务的计划。

　　In chapter seven bankruptcy, people must give up some of their property. The property isthen sold to pay their creditors.

　　根据第七章的要求，债务人必须将其部分财产卖掉，以清偿债权人。

　　But the people are able to keep the money they earn after they bring their bankruptcy case.

　　但是，债务人可以保有在破产案之后所赚得的收入。

　　Under chapter seven they are also able to keep most of the property they buy after that time.

　　在第七章破产程序下，债务人仍可保留在那之后所够得的大部分财产。
