　　Most undergraduates in the United States last yearhad at least one credit card.

　　去年，大部分的美国大学生本科生每人至少拥有一张信用卡。

　　Half had four or more.

　　其中有半数人拥有四张以上的信用卡。

　　Borrowers who do not pay their card debt in full eachmonth have to pay interest on whatever balanceremains.

　　In a time of economic downturn,college students are depending on credit cards more thanever.

　　在经济衰退时期，大学生比以往更依赖信用卡，

　　Many seem to use them to live beyond their means-to spend more than they have.

　　However, a new law makes it harder for banks to give credit cards to people under 21.

　　然而，一项新法律让银行给21岁以下的人发信用卡的难度增大了。

　　To get a credit card, they need a parent or other adult over 21 to accept joint responsibility.

　　21岁以下的学生在申请信用卡时，必须要求其父母或是21岁以上的成年人接受连带责任，

　　Or they need to show they can repay their debts independently.

　　或者他们能证明自己具有独立还款的能力。

　　Also, schools are urged to consider limiting the number of places on campus where companiescan market credit cards.

　　同时，学校也在加紧缩减银行在校发放信用卡的名额，

　　And they are urged to offer credit card and debt education and counseling sessions to all newstudents.

　　并向所有新生提供加强信用卡或其他债务的相关教育和提供咨询服务。
