　　1.ASKING FOR NEWS打听情况

　　a)Chris和Kerry最近刚从昆士兰州回来。Aunty Doris和Uncle Norm想知道他们出去旅行的情况，所以他们就问：How was the trip?

　　要了解别人出去旅行的情况，还可以用这两个问句：

　　Where did you go?

　　How long were you away?

　　或

　　How long were you away for?

　　b)如果谈到共同认识的朋友，往往先这样问：

　　How's Peter getting on these days?

　　回答这个问题时，可以用这两个说法：

　　(i) He's fine.(谈Peter身体怎样)

　　(ii) Very well.

　　He's got a bookshop now.

　　(谈Peter其他情况)

　　如果想多了解他的情况，可以接着问：

　　Where's Pe ter working?

　　How long has he been there?

　　What's his job?

　　2) EXCLAMATIONS感叹句

　　我们用下列各类惊叹句对所获得的各种消息作出反应。

　　Disappointing News 令人失望的消息

　　有些感叹句需要结合说话的场合才能知道其含义。例如：

　　It's been raining for hours.

　　What a day!(意思是：What a wet/awful day!)

　　It's warm and sunny.

　　What a day!(意思是：What a beautiful day!)

　　She's very clever.

　　What a wife!(意思是：What a clever wife!)

　　She's wonderful.

　　What a wife!(意思是：What a wonderful wife!)

　　不要忘记，在书写的时候，英语的感叹句后面要用“!”这个标点符号。

　　3.FAREWELLS告辞

　　告辞的时候，也有一些比较固定的说法：

　　a)客人表示该走了

　　We must be leaving.

　　It's time we went.

　　It's time we were going.

　　b) 主人客气地表示时间还早

　　Oh, don't go yet.

　　Stay a bit longer.

　　c)客人感谢主人热情招待

　　Thanks for your hospitality.(非常正式)

　　It's been a lovely evening.

　　Thanks for having us.

　　d)主人向客人表示他们能来作客使他感到高兴

　　Glad you could come.

　　Nice to have you.

　　Come again.

　　*客人在刚来的时候和告辞的时候都可以说Thanks for inviting us.但只有在告辞的时候才说Thanks forhaving us.
