　　A massive blind date event that saw thousands ofuniversity student singles in East China's AnhuiProvince last week was met with some finger-wagging on social media.

　　上周中国安徽省某校大规模的相亲活动引来上千学生的参与，社交媒体则对之表示不赞同。

　　On Saturday night, around 5,000 locally-enrolledstudents gathered at the University of Science andTechnology of China (USTC) in Hefei for "BeautifulEncounter."

　　上周六晚，将近5000名本地就读学生参与了在安徽合肥中国科学技术大学举办的“美丽邂逅”相亲会。

　　The cross-school event aimed to help young men studying at male-heavy polytechnicuniversities connect with eligible bachelorettes at different schools, organizers said.

　　组织者表示，通过跨校“调剂”，此次跨校相亲大会旨在为广大理工男提供和外校女生交流的平台。

　　Long lines of students gathered on the campus athletic field to enter the event. Once inside,students took part in games designed to help break the ice and were given chances to show offa special talent or give a quick dating pitch.

　　参与的同学在校园运动场上等待排起长队，入场后，学生通过游戏等环节互相熟悉交流，并可以现场展示才艺或现场速配。

　　An annual event since 2003, Beautiful Encounter has been generally well received by universitystudents in Hefei, read the report.

　　据报导，“美丽邂逅”跨校相亲会自2003年举办以来，每年举办一次，普遍受到在合肥就读大学生的欢迎。

　　While some supported the event on social media, others felt that college students are tooyoung for blind dates.

　　虽然社交媒体上有人支持这种活动，但很多人认为相亲对于年轻的大学生来说还是太早了。

　　"College students still have no idea about the pressures they will face. Since they areunprepared to start a family, blind dating at such an early stage is irresponsible," wrote a Netuser. The comment garnered over 600 likes.

　　“大学生对即将要面临的压力毫无概念，他们还没有准备好组建家庭，在这样的年纪相亲是极不负责任的”，一位网友表示，该评论被赞了600多次。

　　Supporters countered on Sina Weibo saying that most participants were older grad students.

　　支持者在新浪微博反驳道，大多数参加者都是年龄稍大的研究生。
