　　Universities' Grading Systems

　　大学的评分系统

　　Most American colleges and universities use thegrading system of A, B, C, D

　　and F.

　　绝大部分美国大学都采用A,B，C，D和F的评分系统。

　　An A is worth four points, a B three points,

　　A等于4分，B三分，

　　a C two points and a D one point.

　　C两分，D一分。

　　Getting a grade like a B-plus or a C-minus adds orsubtracts a few tenths of

　　a point.

　　得到B+或C+的分数就等于加上或减去零点几分，

　　An F is a failing grade worth zero toward a student's grade point

　　average.

　　而F即为不及格，相当于平均积分点为零。

　　A small number of colleges reject the traditional grading system.

　　少数大学反对这种传统的评分系统。

　　They are organized into programs taught by teams of professors.

　　他们划分成不同的课程，由不同的老师进行教学。

　　Each program brings together different subjects and extends in length over

　　2 or 3 quarters.

　　Students are required to do a major research project at the end of each

　　program.

　　The professors write detailed evaluations of the students.These are

　　combined with evaluationswritten by the students themselves.

　　Most teachers would probably agree that traditional grades are sometimes

　　unfair.

　　But professors at big schools say there is not enough time to write

　　evaluations for eachstudent in large classes.
