　　The Statue of Liberty represents a woman holding atorch of fire.

　　自由女神像代表高举火炬的一个女人。

　　It stands on an island at the entrance to the NewYork City harbor.

　　自由女神像坐落于纽约港口的自由岛上。

　　It is almost 93 meters tall,one of the tallest statuesever built.

　　93米的高度是有史以来建造的最高的雕像。

　　Its complete name is "Liberty Enlightening the World".

　　右手高举象征自由的火炬，其全名是“自由照耀世界”。

　　The Statue of Liberty was a gift to the people of the United States from

　　the people of France.

　　自由女神像是法国送给美国独立100周年的礼物，

　　It was an expression of friendship and the goal of liberty shared by the

　　people of bothcountries.

　　象征着两国人民的友谊以及争取自由的崇高理想和目标。

　　The statue was designed and built in France.

　　这座雕像是在法国设计及建造。

　　France officially presented the statue to the United States Minister to

　　France in Paris on July4th, 1884.

　　1884年，法国正式把自由女神像赠送给美国。

　　The statue was then taken apart and sent to the United States.

　　然后这座雕像被拆开并送往美国。

　　New York City celebrated with a huge parade.

　　纽约市曾举行了盛大的游行庆祝。

　　Since then, the Statue of Liberty has been a symbol of freedom for people

　　all over the world.

　　此后，自由女神像成为全世界人民自由的象征。
