2019英语专八听力mini lecture训练mp3音频附文本十二篇
[00:23.76]MINI-LECTURE 1
[00:25.33]In this section
[00:26.82]you will hear a mini-lecture.
[00:28.20]You will hear
[00:28.91]the mini-lecture ONCE ONLY.
[00:31.55]While listening to the mini-lecture,
[00:33.72]please complete the gap-filling task
[00:35.78]on ANSWER SHEET ONE and write
[00:37.99]NO MORE THAN THREE WORDS
[00:39.66]for each gap.
[00:41.46]Make sure the word(s) you fill in
[00:44.50]is (are) both grammatically
[00:46.85]and semantically acceptable.
[00:49.69]You may use the blank sheet
[00:51.23]for note-taking.
[00:53.12]You have THIRTY seconds
[00:54.67]to preview the gap-filling task.
[01:26.75]Now listen to the mini-lecture.
[01:28.99]When it is over,
[01:30.26]you will be given THREE minutes
[01:31.73]to check your work.
[01:33.39]How to Make It in College
[01:35.90]Good morning.
[01:36.98]Today is your first day on campus.
[01:40.09]Everything is a hassle,
[01:41.72]from finding the classrooms
[01:43.12]to standing in line at the bookstore.
[01:45.93]You're confused and tired
[01:47.50]and probably not too concerned
[01:49.18]with staying in college.
[01:51.38]But listen to my advice anyway.
[01:53.50]It will help you get the inside story
[01:55.79]on making it in college.
[01:58.03]Now, let's talk about the secret
[01:59.76]to getting good grades.
[02:02.00]It all comes down
[02:03.06]to getting those grades, doesn't it?
[02:05.45]After all,
[02:06.60]you came here for some reason,
[02:09.20]and you're going to
[02:09.84]need passing grades
[02:11.23]to get the credits
[02:12.29]or degree you want.
[02:14.11]In colleges, you're really
[02:16.05]on your own
[02:16.81]when it comes to passing courses.
[02:19.17]In fact, sometimes you'll feel
[02:21.02]as if nobody cares
[02:22.70]if you make it or not.
[02:24.47]Therefore, you've got
[02:25.79]to figure out a study system
[02:27.54]that gets results.
[02:29.33]Most of the successful students
[02:30.93]I talked to
[02:31.74]agreed that the following 5
[02:33.25]study tips
[02:34.43]deliver solid results.
[02:36.98]Firstly, set up a study place.
[02:39.97]Those students you see "studying"
[02:41.64]in the cafeteria
[02:42.89]or game room
[02:43.83]aren't learning much.
[02:45.06]You just can't learn
[02:46.39]when you're distracted by
[02:47.81]people and noise.
[02:49.12]Even the library can be
[02:50.84]a bad place to study
[02:51.97]if you constantly find yourself
[02:53.87]watching the clouds outside
[02:55.68]or the students walking
[02:57.36]through the stacks.
[02:59.21]So find a room at home
[03:01.25]or a spot in the library
[03:03.00]that's relatively quiet—
[03:04.48]and boring.
[03:06.12]When you sit there,
[03:07.52]you won't have much
[03:08.13]to do except study.
[03:10.26]Secondly,
[03:11.42]get into a study frame of mind.
[03:14.09]When you sit down,
[03:15.37]do it with the attitude
[03:16.60]that you're really going
[03:17.29]to get this studying done.
[03:19.62]You're not going to doodle
[03:21.32]in your notebook
[03:22.24]or make a list for the supermarket.
[03:24.86]Decide that you are going to study
[03:26.75]and learn now,
[03:28.38]so that you can move on
[03:29.48]to more interesting things
[03:30.87]as soon as possible.
[03:32.93]Thirdly, skim the textbook first.
[03:35.53]In order to prevent
[03:36.93]absent-mindedness,
[03:38.46]skim the textbook chapter first.
[03:40.66]This means: look at the title,
[03:43.14]the subtitles, the headings,
[03:44.77]the pictures,
[03:45.82]the first and last paragraphs.
[03:48.32]Try to find out what the person
[03:50.67]who wrote the book had in mind
[03:52.27]when he or she
[03:53.48]organized the chapter.
[03:55.50]After skimming,
[03:56.98]you should be able to explain
[03:58.64]to yourself
[03:59.32]what the main points
[04:00.76]of the chapter are.
[04:02.76]Fourthly, take notes on
[04:04.33]what you're studying.
[04:05.87]This sounds like a hassle,
[04:07.70]but it works.
[04:09.16]Go back over the material
[04:10.67]after you've read it,
[04:12.21]and jot down key words
[04:13.79]and phrases in the margins.
[04:15.51]When you review the chapter
[04:17.25]for a test,
[04:18.40]you'll have handy little things
[04:19.92]like "definition of rationalization"
[04:23.11]or "example of assimilation"
[04:25.52]in the margins.
[04:27.12]If the material is especially tough,
[04:30.12]organize a separate sheet of notes.
[04:32.76]Write down definitions, examples,
[04:35.65]lists, and main ideas.
[04:37.97]The idea is to have a single sheet
[04:40.46]that boils the entire chapter down
[04:42.72]to a digestible lump.
[04:45.29]Fifthly, review
[04:46.31]after you've read and taken notes.
[04:49.39]Some people swear
[04:50.51]that talking to yourself works.
[04:53.28]Tell yourself about
[04:54.73]the most important points
[04:56.12]in the chapter.
[04:57.12]Once you've said them out loud,
[04:59.27]they seem to stick better
[05:00.48]in your mind.
[05:01.63]If you can't talk to yourself
[05:03.47]about the material
[05:04.65]after reading it,
[05:05.97]that's a sure sign
[05:07.06]you don't really know it.
[05:08.79]Next, I would like to talk
[05:10.86]about how to manage
[05:12.26]the tight schedule
[05:13.09]you may face in college.
[05:15.71]This is one of
[05:16.50]the toughest problems
[05:17.61]students face.
[05:19.25]Believe it or not, though,
[05:20.38]it is possible to meet
[05:22.41]all your responsibilities.
[05:24.24]And you don't have to turn into
[05:26.08]a hermit
[05:26.99]or give up your loved ones to do it.
[05:29.81]The secret here is
[05:30.78]to organize your time.
[05:32.70]Try these three tactics.
[05:35.26]First, prepare a monthly calendar.
[05:38.00]Get one of those calendars
[05:39.52]with big blocks around the dates.
[05:42.35]Give yourself an overview
[05:43.69]of the whole term
[05:45.30]by marking down the due dates
[05:46.98]for papers and projects.
[05:49.33]Circle test and exam days.
[05:51.87]This way those days don't sneak up
[05:53.96]on you unexpectedly.
[05:55.82]Second, make up a study schedule.
[05:58.95]Sit down during the first few days
[06:00.97]of this semester
[06:02.07]and make up a sheet listing the days
[06:04.70]and hours of the week.
[06:06.85]Fill in your work and class hours first.
[06:09.64]Then try to block out
[06:10.99]some study hours.
[06:12.46]It's better to study a little
[06:14.19]every day than to create
[06:16.31]a huge once-or-twice-a-week
[06:18.29]marathon session.
[06:20.28]Third, use to-do lists.
[06:23.01]This is the secret
[06:24.19]that got me through college.
[06:26.32]Once a week,
[06:27.19]write a list of what you have to do.
[06:29.59]Write down everything
[06:30.80]from "write English paper"
[06:32.82]to "buy cold cuts for lunch".
[06:36.04]The best thing about a to-do list is
[06:37.96]that it seems to tame
[06:39.07]all those stray "I have to"
[06:41.23]thoughts that nag at your mind.
[06:44.21]After you finish something
[06:46.01]on the list, cross it off.
[06:48.09]Get the important things done first.
[06:50.59]The secondary things
[06:52.20]you don't finish
[06:53.01]can simply be moved
[06:54.12]to your next to-do list.
[06:56.91]In the last part of my lecture,
[06:58.74]I'd like to explain
[06:59.95]why some people make it
[07:01.71]and some drop out of college.
[07:03.48]Anyone who spends at least
[07:05.66]one semester in college notices
[07:07.92]that some students give up
[07:09.89]on their classes.
[07:11.41]What's the difference
[07:12.71]between students like this
[07:14.27]and the ones
[07:15.03]who succeed in school?
[07:17.11]My survey may be non-scientific,
[07:20.00]but everyone I asked
[07:21.62]said the same thing: attitude.
[07:24.51]A positive attitude is the key
[07:26.28]to everything else—
[07:28.18]good study habits,
[07:29.52]smart time scheduling,
[07:31.00]and coping with personal difficulties.
[07:33.83]What does
[07:34.81] "a positive attitude"mean?
[07:37.28]Well, for one thing,
[07:38.90]it means not acting like a zombie.
[07:41.16]It means not only showing up
[07:43.45]for your classes,
[07:44.26]but also doing something
[07:45.90]while you're there.
[07:47.33]Really listen.
[07:48.85]Take notes.
[07:50.43]Ask a question if you want to.
[07:52.61]Don't just walk into a class,
[07:54.78]put your mind in neutral,
[07:56.35]and drift away to never-never land.
[07:59.49]Having a positive attitude goes
[08:02.17]deeper than this, though.
[08:03.79]It means being mature
[08:04.88]about college as an institution.
[08:07.97]College classes can sometimes
[08:09.93]be downright dull and boring.
[08:12.28]If you let a boring class
[08:14.27]discourage you so much
[08:15.66]that you want to leave school,
[08:17.43]you'll lose in the long run.
[08:19.97]Look at your priorities.
[08:22.32]You want a degree,
[08:23.39]or a certificate, or a career.
[08:25.91]If you have to, you can make it
[08:28.82]through a less-than-interesting class
[08:30.49]in order to achieve what you want.
[08:33.06]But if you simply can't stand
[08:34.98]a certain class, be determined
[08:36.92]to fulfill its requirements
[08:38.82]and be done with it once
[08:40.22]and for all.
[08:41.38]OK, to conclude,
[08:43.06]if you follow the advice here,
[08:45.88]you'll be prepared
[08:46.87]to face the academic crunch
[08:48.87]without giving up your family,
[08:50.52]your job, or Monday Night Football.
[08:54.55]That's all for the lecture.
[08:56.35]Thank you.
[08:57.39]Now, you have THREE minutes
[08:59.39]to check your work.
